EXPERIMENTS
Glass, although very versatile and rewarding to work with, is a complex material that is not always predictable or successful.
I am always looking to improve my skills and knowledge about working with glass, and like to experiment as much as I can, pushing both myself and the material.
HONEY COMB
I sculpted each individual marble from solid coloured glass with a flame torch. I then heated 138 marbles up in kiln before attaching them into a thick clear bowl.
The piece unfortunately cracked whilst I was cutting it due to a compatibility problem. I hope to re-create this piece in the future after solving the issues.
HOT CAST PYRAMIDS
I created these pieces whilst studying at the University of Wolverhampton. I was experimenting with different ways to best create the tetrahedron form and triangular pattern I had designed. I really like the idea and design of this work. Unfortunately these also broke, but would like to re-visit this work someday.
THREE LITTLE BEARS
I created these pieces after learning some new skills and techniques on my first experience at Pilchuck Glass School Summer 2017. I performed a demonstration in front of my class mates where I made 'Sue' the bear with a bow.
